John D. Winnett was named executive director of SACNAS in March 2018. He brings more than 17 years of executive management, fundraising, government relations, strategic partnership development, and change management experience to his role.
John oversees organizational strategy and direction at SACNAS, facilitating nationwide partnerships, building alliances, and sparking innovation. He is also responsible for overall revenue generation, public policy, and increasing both brand awareness and market penetration. Since joining SACNAS, John has worked to share SACNAS’ strategy and vision with members, partners, and philanthropic investors.
Previously, John served as the president & chief strategy officer of WOW! Impact Strategies, a board governance, change management, and innovation consulting firm. Prior to that, he served as the executive vice-president and chief staff officer of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) North American Foundation.
As a first generation college student, John truly understands the power of education and how it can transform lives. He earned a BA in political science from Cumberland University. John is based, and lives, in Washington, D.C.
