About Our Chapter & Leadership

We are a local network of fundraising professionals covering all facets of nonprofit development. Our mission is to empower and uplift our development colleagues and the nonprofit organizations they serve through education and networking. We provide a sense of community and support for our colleagues throughout the greater Los Angeles area through inclusive and diverse programming. 

AFP Greater Los Angeles Chapter members serve in various roles including as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executives, communication managers, and more. 

The AFP Greater Los Angeles Chapter hosts virtual and in-person events on topics relevant to our everyday work. We offer a blend of networking and educational opportunities through our local area webinars, meet-ups, roundtables, seasoned leader series, emerging leader sessions, and National Philanthropy Day® awards & celebration. All of our education programs are submitted to CFRE International for Educational CEs. Use the CFRE Trackers to keep track of your event attendance for certification and re-certification. AFP Greater Los Angeles is also part of the AFP Southern California Consortium. The AFP Southern California Consortium is a partnership with seven chapters in the Southern California region that collaborates on events and initiatives across the region. Board of Directors

The chapter is fully organized and operated by the Board of Directors, which is composed of chapter members who volunteer their time, talents, and resources. We are also supported by two administrative staff members from Maple Street Management. Ten Star & IDEA Designations

AFP’s Strategic Plan is the blueprint for organizational growth and success in the future. For the strategic plan to be effective, it must be implemented through a partnership between AFP Global and the local chapters. As each chapter contributes its part to the overall Strategic Plan, AFP will meet its goals and continue to advance philanthropy and the fundraising profession around the world.

The Chapter Ten Star & Ten Star Gold awards honor those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.  Both Awards encourage chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. 

The IDEA Champion Designation recognizes those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined across priorities of the strategic plan. This designation encourages chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase IDEA within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy in all cultures.

The Greater Los Angeles Chapter has received recognition for Ten Star Gold & IDEA Champion for 2025.
