As the co‐founder and inaugural President of the Professional Résumé Writing and Research Association (PRWRA), later rebranded as Career Directors International, Laurie understands the vital significance of ongoing memberships in global and local professional organizations. Within any industry, mentoring stands out as a fundamental necessity. Laurie will elaborate on how she integrated mentoring assignments within PRWRA to ensure all members could thrive. Endowed with a Certified Career Research Professional (CCRP) designation, Laurie trains clients on industry research opportunities for future success. As the recipient of last year’s CDI Lifetime Achievement Award, Laurie advocates pursuing continuing education as an indispensable element in remaining focused on achieving goals.
BIO
Laurie Jankower James hails from the vibrant culture of south Louisiana. In 1986, Laurie established a successful résumé writing and career coaching firm, marking the start of her entrepreneurial journey. Laurie's influence transcended individual careers when she co‐founded and presided over the Professional Résumé Writing and Research Association (PRWRA). She led PRWRA’s expansion into 19 global markets, establishing uniform international standards for résumé writing, industry mentoring, opportunities for continuing education, and enhancing the industry’s recognition of career practitioners. In 2005, PRWRA rebranded as Career Directors International (CDI), cementing its status as a leading professional career association. Laurie’s contributions were recently recognized with the esteemed CDI Lifetime Achievement Award.
Laurie’s journey took a poignant turn when she decided to complete her father's unfulfilled dream of writing a book. On January 1, 2024, she made a New Year’s Resolution to embark on this endeavor, using her Dad’s aspiration as her guiding light. In a remarkable display of determination, she completed the book in just six weeks, on Valentine’s Day, coinciding with her 38th business anniversary.
Guided by her unwavering faith in God and a relentless commitment to positivity, Laurie has inspired countless professionals worldwide. Her life’s mission revolves around empowering others to reach their full potential, epitomized by her favorite quote from Victor Hugo: “To Love Another Person Is To See The Face of God!”
