This program has been designed for members who are seeking short-term advice on a fundraising topic, such as how to start a simple bequest program, or what would be the best career move after being an annual fund director. This program will help you find a local, experienced member of AFP Monterey Bay with the expertise you need.
It's an exciting opportunity for our local members an exciting opportunity to transform their fundraising careers. The Mentorship Program formalizes a mentoring relationship in a structured program that offers networking opportunities and one-on-one coaching sessions with experts in the field. Our Mentors provide their Mentees with an experienced friend who is there to help in any number of situations.
The goals of the Mentorship Program include:
- To strengthen the skills of the Mentee and support professional and career development by identifying and working on specific areas of his or her practice.
- To enhance the professional abilities of participating Mentors through their efforts in guiding and coaching.
- To foster professional relationships between seasoned development professionals and those newer to the field.
- To provide mid-level professionals with the opportunity to expand their skill set to new areas of development.
How to Participate:
Mentors and Mentees are asked to commit approximately one hour per month for six months as they work together on key issues important to the Mentee’s success and the success of the organization they serve. The location will be determined based on the locations of our mentors and mentees.
