AFP EASTERN IOWA CHAPTER AWARDED TEN STAR DESIGNATION


The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Eastern Iowa Chapter has been named a 2023 Ten Star Chapter.

Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Just one-third of all AFP chapters are named Ten Star Chapters, so the Eastern Iowa Chapter is one of a select group of chapters to earn this honor.

Ten Star Chapters are recognized at the AFP International Conference on Fundraising (ICON). Chapters also earn the privilege of displaying the Ten Star logo on their website, newsletters and stationary. 


Criteria for the award are determined by AFP Global Headquarters. A list of several goals is published annually, and chapters must accomplish 10 of these goals during the year and submit a nomination form for verification to be honored.

CHAPTER TEN STAR/TEN STAR GOLD AWARDS OVERVIEW

The Chapter Ten Star/Ten Star Gold Awards honor those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.
AFP’s Strategic Plan is the blueprint for organizational growth and success in the future. For the strategic plan to be effective, it must be implemented through a partnership between AFP Global and the local chapters. As each chapter contributes its part to the overall Strategic Plan, AFP will meet its goals and continue to advance philanthropy and the fundraising profession around the world.

Program Mission
The Chapter Ten Star & Ten Star Gold award honors those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.  Both Awards encourage chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy.

Ten Star Eligibility
All Chapters can earn the Ten Star or Ten Star Gold Awards. There is no limit to the number of Ten Star Awards that can be presented in a given year. Regardless of size, budget or resources, as long as a chapter fulfills the necessary 12 goals (for Ten Star) or 18 Goals (for Ten Star Gold) it is eligible. The chapter must submit an award application by January 31, 2022 for activities completed during 2021. The application must be signed by the chapter president and one other board member.

Award Presentation
AFP will verify and determine which chapters have accomplished the necessary goals to earn the Chapter Ten Star Award or Ten Star Gold award. 

Ten Star & Ten Star Gold Chapters will be recognized at AFP’s 2022 ICON and on the AFP website. All recipients will receive a complimentary web/audioconference registration to be used in 2022, a certificate of achievement, a press release template and use of a unique Ten Star or Ten Star Gold logo to promote the success of your chapter on your chapter website, newsletters, stationery, etc.

Ten Star Gold Chapters will receive the following additional rewards:

  • One free AFP Global membership scholarship to use in your chapter
  • Recognition at Chapter Presidents Council meeting
  • Listing in Advancing Philanthropy
