Dr. Mahesh Chandra, a prominent physician, recognized the disparities in healthcare and took a bold step to make a difference. In 1971, he became one of the founding physicians of the Westport Free Health Clinic (now KC CARE Health Center), providing vital medical care to those without access to traditional healthcare channels.
Dr. Chandra's gift to the community extended far beyond medical expertise. He and his wife, Ingrid, raised their five children with similar values, passing on the spirit of philanthropy to the next generation.
Their daughter, Kiran, embodies the family's philanthropic spirit, actively engaging with multiple organizations to support the community. Her involvement with KC CARE Health Center (KC CARE), St. Teresa's Academy, and Happy Bottoms has had a profound impact. Selected as the President-Elect of KC CARE's Board of Directors, Kiran continues to carry forward her father's legacy. She also serves as a volunteer fundraiser at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
